As-Is car sales dominate the conversations I have at my office with disgruntled car buyers. Why? Because so many people do not know what rights they have with such a purchase. Well, the FTC just revised the “Used Car” Rule.
The Used Car Rule mandates the “Buyer’s Guide” which is placed on the window of used cars sold by dealers in the US. The guide designates each sale as being with a Warranty or Without (although the second designation varies in some states where “As-Is” sales are not allowed).
The language which explains what all this means was just rewritten by the Federal Trade Commission. It won’t fix the problem but the new language is slightly better. And it looks like it is a step in the right direction, albeit a small one. I explain all in this week’s podcast. The audio:

This website may supply general information about the law but it is for informational purposes only. This does not create an attorney-client relationship and is not meant to constitute legal advice, so the good news is we’re not billing you by the hour for reading this. The bad news is that you shouldn’t act upon any of the information without consulting a qualified professional attorney who will, probably, bill you by the hour.

That Stang’s a little sad. Sure, the quarters are rough, but it looks like a lot of it is salvageable, and the inner fenders being sliced past the towers make it look like somebody got started on a pieced out repair before abandoning it.

I saw it by the side of the road and went back to take a look. Although it is just a skeleton, what is there was remarkably straight. Not sure what it would take to salvage. I’m a Mopar guy for the most part so I just took the pic and moved on.

I only know as much as I do about the structure from redoing a (very similar) Falcon, but I do know that this would work perfectly well to build a custom Mustang out of... if it had its serial. The serial on the door is gone, the serial on the shock tower brace is gone - it has a data plate of some kind on the driver shock tower I don’t know anything about but which is still there, and one of the serials on the tops of the inner fender may remain if it’s not cut in half...
For people who want to rebuild a Shelby repro or a fastback, you can buy a whole unibody unit like in this picture new for ~18 grand. For someone with more modest tastes, they could go a long way with just what’s here. Again, however, only if they can use a serial, which for this may be in use elsewhere.

Most likely.
